Clarity Today, Confidence Tomorrow

For over a decade, Allen C. Cheaves and Extra Credit Financial Solutions LLC have been on a singular mission —
to make financial literacy accessible to every person, in every community, at every stage of life.

Meet the Founder

Meet Allen C. Cheaves

Allen didn't set out to build an organization. He set out to solve a problem — one that he saw playing out in schools, in households, and in communities across the country. People weren't struggling financially because they lacked ambition or discipline. They were struggling because no one had ever given them the tools to understand money in the first place.

That belief became the foundation of Extra Credit Financial Solutions, LLC, which Allen founded in 2011.

In the years since, Allen has educated more than 100,000 individuals, spoken at the United Nations, served as a Mayor-appointed Commissioner on the DC Financial Literacy Council, and earned national recognition including a feature in USA Today and the CBE designation. His conviction remains the same: financial knowledge isn't a privilege. It's a right — and he's committed to making it available to anyone willing to learn.

What drives everything we do.

ECFS was built on a simple but powerful belief: that access to quality financial education changes more than bank accounts but lives. The confidence that comes from understanding your money resonates with every area of a person's world.

Clarity

Complexity is the enemy of action. Everything ECFS teaches is designed to be understood, remembered, and applied — not just heard.

Accessibility

Financial education should not be reserved for those who can already afford good advice. ECFS meets people where they are — in their schools, their communities, and now online.

Impact

Education without application is just information. ECFS is committed to tools, frameworks, and strategies that create real, measurable change in people's financial lives.

Impact by the numbers

"Financial literacy is not just about money — it's about creating opportunity, building confidence, and improving lives."

This is the belief that has guided Allen since day one. It's what shapes every program ECFS develops, every course module, every calculator tool, and every conversation with the individuals and organizations we serve.

The goal has never been to simply teach people about money. The goal is to change what people believe is possible for themselves.

Allen was extremely prepared and spent considerable time with me before the actual presentation to do a dry run to ensure the presentations’ information was in line with pre-discussed expectations. Additionally, ECFS also employed a variety of teaching techniques (i.e., lecture, polls, open-end questions, etc.) to draw our students in.
